1 dead, 1 injured after double shooting near VSU

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- One man is dead and another is injured after a double shooting on 3100 block of Dupuy Rd. in South Chesterfield, right across from Virginia State University.

Sources tell CBS 6, two people were shot around 8:20 p.m.  One victim was shot in the chest other victim was shot once in each leg. The men have been taken to a nearby hospital, where one man died. The other male suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police are withholding the name of the deceased until next of kin is notified.

Witnesses tell CBS 6 they heard about 10 gunshots ring out.

This shooting took place about one hour after shots rang out at the River Road Terrace apartment complex, which is also near VSU. No one was hurt in the shooting,

Police said these crimes are not related.
