CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — If you notice a large number of Fire and EMS teams near DuPont Spruance on Jefferson Davis Highway, don’t be alarmed, the company is conducting firefighting drills and hosting hazardous materials drills over the next couple of days.

DuPont is conducting training on flammable vapor firefighting on Wednesday, October 21 between noon and 3 p.m.

In addition, the company’s emergency services will host a ‘mutual aid’ hazardous materials drill on Thursday, October 22, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. That will include Chesterfield Fire and EMS and Defense Logistics Agency Fire and EMS teams.

During these time periods on Wednesday and Thursday, DuPont said there may be fire visible from a flare. The flare will be especially visible from I-95 north exit ramp to Chippenham Parkway.

Residents, businesses, and commuters along the Jefferson Davis Highway corridor may also notice a large number of emergency response vehicles entering and leaving the site on both days.

DuPont said the Emergency response drills help evaluate the knowledge, skills and abilities of the teams toward the goals of “life, safety, incident stabilization and property conservation.”
