WILMINGTON, North Carolina -- A man charged with murdering another man in Wilmington, North Carolina taunted his alleged victim's infant daughter during a court appearance Tuesday. Antonio Beatty, 21, stuck his tongue out and laughed in the direction of Carlton Whitley's fiancee and five-month-old daughter as he was escorted from court. Beatty was arrested Saturday for the July murder.

"That’s so disrespectful. She's five months. She's five months. She didn't ask for that. She didn't deserve that," Whitley's fiancee Octavia Bryant told WWAY. "My daughter shouldn't have to grow up without a father because of someone else's stupidity."

Family members said Beatty's actions proved he did not care about Whitley's death.

"My brother didn’t deserve that," Ebony Silman said. "He worked. He rapped. He took care of his family. He didn't deserve that. I don't care if I have to fight an army. I am going to be his voice."

Antonio Beatty was ordered to be held in jail without bond pending his next hearing.
