Deputies ID woman struck, killed in Hanover bike crash

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — Police have identified the bicyclist killed Saturday morning in Hanover as 26-year-old Caroline Wortham of Glen Allen.

Officials said it happened just before 11 a.m. near the intersection of Mountain Road and Farrington Road.

Deputies said the bicyclist was headed west on Mountain Road when a Buick Century slammed into the back of the her bike.

The victim died at the scene.

“We send our sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Caroline Wortham,” Sergeant Matthew Ratchford said.

The driver, who was not injured, stayed at the scene.

“Investigators will be consulting with the Hanover Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in regards to future charges,” Ratchford said.
