Police investigating body found floating in Powhite Creek

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have launched a death investigation after a man's body is found floating in Powhite Creek Friday evening.

Police were called around 4:58 p.m. to the 6200 block of Forest Hill Avenue for a report of a person down. When officers arrived they found a body in the water.

Powhite Creek is located near Willow Oaks in the area of the Powhite Bridge.

Richmond Police worked with the Richmond Fire Department to recover the body from the creek.

Police said their preliminary investigation revealed the individual appears to be an adult, but there is no known cause right now.

There are also no other identifying details available at this time.
