I-95 south as of 4:20 p.m.
PETERSBURG, Va. — Emergency bridge repairs have closed lanes on I-95 south at Washington Street in Petersburg Friday afternoon.
VDOT said the interstate’s right and center lanes would be closed from 2 to 6 p.m. as crews completed bridge repairs.
Additionally, officials said the westbound left lane on Washington Street above I-95 would be closed until further notice.
Drivers should prepare for major delays and use I-295 as an alternate.
As of 7 p.m., there was a seven-mile backup beginning near Washington Street.
