Henrico teen arrested after shots fired on VCU campus

HENRICO, Va. – University police arrested the individual responsible for shots fired on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Felix C. Thompson Jr., 18, of Henrico, is charged with one count of brandishing a firearm and one count of willful discharge of a firearm in public, both misdemeanors.

The Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department responded to the 400 block of N. Harrison Street after shots were fired.

Multiple witnesses in the area reported seeing three men in a red Mini Cooper and shots fired from the vehicle.

Thompson fired into the air and there were no reported injuries, according to police.

Police have identified the two other individuals in connection with the incident. None of the three individuals involved have affiliation with VCU.

VCU Police utilized multiple alerting systems to notify the community of this incident, including issuing text messages and activating sirens on campus.
