HANOVER COUNTY, Va. --- Thomas Michael Moolhuyzen, 58, of Mechanicsville, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography following a search of his Ridgebrook Drive home, according to the Hanover Sheriff's Office. Investigators went to Moolhuyzen's home following up on a crime tip.

One neighbor told CBS 6 she thought deputies were doing a traffic stop outside of her house early Friday morning, but soon realized that wasn't it when they started going in and out of her neighbors home.

"Information was received from a citizen and, after an investigation, Hanover investigators determined evidence existed to charge Mr. Moolhuyzen with possession of obscene material, child pornography," Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Terry Sullivan said. "Additional evidence was recovered, in conjunction with the arrest, following the service of a search warrant at Moolhuyzen’s residence today."

This type of news didn't sit well with parents in the Ridgebrook neighborhood. "Very disgusted, about as low as you can get," said neighbor Sharon Cafo. "The neighbor he was a friend. I mean I’m shocked. It makes me nauseous. It’sad.”

Kevin Stotler said it could happen anywhere and he's glad it wasn't worse. "People are in their homes and it's not like he was luring kids over there and doing things with them," Stoler said.

Moolhuyzen was booked, without bond, at Pamunkey Regional Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
