RICHMOND, Va -- Guests at Redskins Camp may spot some large blue bins at the Bon Secours Training Center.
Bon Secours set up blue clothing bins at the facility to collect clothes for the homeless. The health system is collecting blankets, socks, scarves, gloves, and hats.
The items will be given out during a special event for the homeless the Friday after Thanksgiving.
"We feed the homeless, we have showers for them, we wash their clothes, we give them haircuts, and flu shots," said Charlotte Perkins, Bon Secours Vice President of Special Projects. "It's a day for them to come get the services they need but sometimes cannot get."
This year will be the second time Bon Secours hosts the event.
"This is something that we feel passionate about, and so do the Washington Redskins," Perkins said. "We feel this community outreach is just another way of us giving back, and shows camp's not just during camp, but the benefits go beyond camp."
Guests to Redskins camp can donate both new and used items. The bins will be at the facility for the rest of camp.
