CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — The Chesterfield SCUBA Rescue team recovered the body of a fisherman from Lake Farms pond off of Jessup Road. The team initially entered the water to rescue the fisherman who went under water, Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Lt. Jason Elmore said.

The deceased has been identified as Linwood M. Chester Jr., 47, of the 5900 block of Zion Ridge Drive.

Just before 1 p.m. crews were dispatched to the 6500 block of Jessup Road  for a report that a man had fallen out of a boat into the lake and had not resurfaced.

"The water had zero viability for them there was lots of logs and weeds," Elmore told reporters.

"Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, but at this point no foul play is suspected," Chesterfield police spokeswoman Elizabeth Caroon wrote in a news release.

"I was beating myself up because I called 911 and I wanted to go up there, but I couldn't save him," Carmella McCray, a neighbor who called 911 said.

McCray said this is the third drowning in the lake in the time since 1998.
