HOPEWELL, Va. — An investigation is underway in Hopewell after a drive-by shooting injured four people early Saturday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 500 Block of N. 7th Avenue at 12:36 a.m. for a shooting report.
Hopewell Police Lt. Damon Stoker said a small crowd was gathered near the sidewalk when a car pulled up to the intersection. That’s when someone inside the light-colored sedan grabbed a shotgun and fired a single blast.
“Four victims were stuck by pellets from the shotgun,” Stoker said. “All sustained non-life threatening injuries, and they were treated at local hospitals.”
Police do not have a description of the suspect since officials said the victims were intoxicated when the crime occurred. Additionally, officials said none of the victims could think of a motive for the shooting.
Detectives are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact police. If you have information that could help police, call Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at 804-541-2202.
