CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand -- The owners of a lodge in New Zealand are so fed up with one of their lambs they have sent out an online plea for someone to take the animal off their hands.

Marcus the sheep has a taste for the finer things and lives in the lap of luxury at Grasmere Lodge.

Lodge manager Thomas Butler laughed that Marcus is more or less a dog trapped in a sheep's body.

While he’s an attraction in his own right, lodge staffers have become fed up with Marcus. The animal's wild antics are making extra work for the lodge housekeepers.

“They're not that keen on him funnily enough, so it’s a love hate relationship, he's obviously quite cute, but he leaves deposits everywhere,” Butler explained.

In fact, housekeeper Heaven Karanga said by the time she cleans off the deck before guests arrive, Marcus has come back and left more “deposits.”

Karanga said lodge workers struggle to keep Marcus locked outside and he is constantly waiting at the door to come inside.

But Marcus, who is way too precious to sleep in a paddock, has become accustomed to the human way of life and is convinced that inside is where he belongs.

“It'd be wonderful if he'd learnt how to clean up after himself, and then he'd probably be welcome to stay,” Butler said.

But Marcus dodged a bullet after an online plea to take him away from Grasmere means he'll live to see another day.

Since the lodge offered him free to a good home, Bridget Parker and her family are welcoming the four-legged friend to their home.

“I don't think he's going to be able to live in the garden cause of the roses, he'll kill them all, so he'll be in a paddock just over here or around the house,” she said.

But if Marcus has anything to do with it, he'll be back inside in no time.
