CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Police have released the name of the two-year-old Prince George girl who drowned in a backyard swimming pool in Chesterfield County Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to a home in the 4600 block of Stanley Drive near Meadowbrook High School around 3:15 p.m. for a reported drowning.

Relatives said they found the little girl unresponsive in the above-ground pool.

Detectives said the death of Addyson Dawson, of the 1200 block of Butternut Drive, appears to be an "accidental drowning."

The child was pulled from the pool and CPR was administered. She was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police are continuing their investigation but said they do not suspect foul play.
