RICHMOND, Va. -- Central Virginia is under a marginal risk for severe weather Monday as showers and thunderstorms continue to filter through the area. The main threat will be strong storms with wind gusts 40-50 mph, large hail and cloud to ground lightning. Limited sunshine will keep temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Those showers and thunderstorms will continue throughout the day Monday and into Tuesday morning.

Central Virginia is already under a "slight risk" for severe weather Tuesday. We will see sunshine, warming the environment and making us unstable with highs in the lower 90s.

The best window for severe weather is Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening. The main threats are wind gusts 50 mph+, large hail, cloud to ground lightning, localized heavy rainfall, and we could see an isolated tornado.
