Police search for white Ford Escape that struck 5-year-old girl

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Police are searching for the driver who slammed into a little girl riding her bike Sunday evening in South Richmond. The call came in at 7:34 p.m., police said. The five-year-old girl was riding her bike when she was struck by a white SUV in 6500 block of Sugar Maple Drive.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Witnesses described the vehicle that sped away as a newer-model white Ford Escape with tinted windows.
