MIDLOTHIAN, Va. — Savannah Lane, a 20-year-old Midlothian High School graduate and University of Virginia student, was crowned Miss Virginia at the weekend pageant in Roanoke. Lane, who sang Broadway tunes during the talent portion of the pageant, previously won the Miss Piedmont Region pageant to qualify for Miss Virginia.
Lane became the voice for her twin sister Hailey Lane after Hailey suffered a heart attack while home for Spring Break in March. Hailey’s story went national, with people rallying for her recovery behind a “We are Hailey Strong” social media campaign.
Savannah Lane will now represent Virginia in Miss America 2016.
