CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. -- Emergency crews responded to a bus fire on Interstate 95 north near mile marker 103 in Caroline County Friday morning. A witness recorded video of smoke pouring from the bus along the side of the interstate. The fire started near the engine of the bus, Caroline Fire Chief Jason Loftus said. All 22 passengers and the driver made it out safely, he added.
"The right lane remains closed. The backup is now approximately 16 miles," VDOT advised. "Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route. Expect delays."
The passengers were picked up by another bus to continue their trip.
