RICHMOND, Va. — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of the CBS 6 viewing area until 12 a.m. The warm front brought heat and humidity back into the region and is responsible for a lot of these storms.

The main threat from the developing storms will be damaging wind gusts along with some large hail, and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.  The tornado risk for the Richmond-metro is moderate, which doesn’t happen often.

Everything is expected to be cleared out by the morning, but will crank back up Friday night and Saturday.
