COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. — Either one Central Virginia store is the luckiest place on Earth, or one person is holding three Mega Millions tickets worth $1 million each. Three tickets purchased at the Kangaroo Express on Temple Avenue, near Interstate 95 in Colonial Heights, matched the first five numbers in the June 2 Mega Millions drawing. Those three tickets are worth $1 million each.

The winning numbers were 2-9-11-22-23 and the Mega Ball number was 12.

“These three tickets were the only ones in Virginia to win Mega Millions’ second prize,” a Virginia Lottery spokesman wrote in an email. “Whoever has these tickets has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize.”

For security reasons, the lottery would not disclose when the tickets were purchased.

A single Mega Millions ticket, sold in Illinois, matched all six numbers to claim the $260 million jackpot.
