Richmond Police investigate afternoon shooting near two playgrounds

RICHMOND, Va. — A male in his 30s was shot in the leg by the intersection of 20th and T Streets in the city’s East End, beside a city playground and church playground, at about 3:15 p.m. Friday.

Numerous shots were fired, as many as eight. Motive unknown, although initial emergency communications indicated the incident may have involved a robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, approximately 5-foot-8 inches tall and wearing all black and a goatee, according to a Richmond Police supervisor on the scene. Injury not considered to be life-threatening.

The victim is at VCU Medical Center.
