RICHMOND, Va. -- Longtime WTVR CBS 6 anchor Stephanie Rochon is gravely ill from her battle with cancer. Over the past nine months, many of you have called, emailed and contacted us through social media to ask what has happened to Stephanie. She greatly appreciated your well wishes and inquiries as she bravely faced this intense challenge.

Please rest assured that Stephanie is surrounded by loved ones and that her spirit remains strong.

Since 1999 Stephanie has been a strong newsroom leader, and an integral part of communities across Central Virginia.  She has developed a strong network here; building a family and joining a spiritual one through Our Lady of Lourdes church. She is a devout Catholic who cares deeply about her community.

Members of the WTVR CBS 6 News team are wearing lavender cancer awareness ribbons in Stephanie's honor.

At this time her family is reaching out to the community, inviting you to join all of us as we send thoughts and prayers to Stephanie. Though the family is asking for respectful privacy at this time, we hope you will leave a message below in the comments, or on our Facebook page. Thank you.
