RICHMOND, Va. – Nearly 3,500 customers were in the dark for a few hours after a problem with a transformer on Richmond’s Southside Sunday night.
Dominion Virginia Power told WTVR CBS 6 News that customers from Sheila Lane to Huguenot Road were without power as of 8:37 p.m. because of an issue with the transformer near the Walmart Supercenter on Sheila Lane.
As of 9 p.m., Dominion’s website stated that 3,487 customers were without power in Richmond. However, that number was down to 92 as of 11:17 p.m.
Crews have not said what caused the transformer to blow.
