PHOENIX, Ariz. — An 18-year-old man who allegedly became angry that his girlfriend hadn’t cooked him any food is accused of throwing their 1-year-old son against the wall of their home, causing a skull fracture.

KTVK reports that Edgar Lopez, of Phoenix, was booked into jail on charges of child abuse and reckless assault.

His girlfriend said he grabbed her by the hair on April 20 and threw her down on the floor, according to the arresting officer’s report.

Lopez then picked up the boy and allegedly flung him against the wall. The boy fell onto the couch below him, according to police.

During a police interview, Lopez admitted to arguing with his girlfriend and claimed he grabbed her by the hair and threw her down only after she grabbed him around the neck.

When asked how his son suffered his injury, Lopez said he threw him on the couch, “where he may have struck his head.”
