RICHMOND, Va. – The fatal shooting of 16-year-old Alex Jackson has been ruled as justified, according to the Richmond Police Department, in consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

At approximately 12:23 a.m., March 27, police were called to the 2100 block of Creighton Road for a report of a shooting. At that location, they discovered Jackson’s body lying on the ground outside a residence.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene while another person, an adult male, was taken to VCU Medical Center with what police called a non-life threatening injury.

After a thorough and complete investigation, it was determined that the fatal shot was fired in self-defense. The adult male who shot Jackson will not be charged.

The second adult male has been released from the hospital.

Jackson was one of nine children. He lived in Mosby Court and neighbors reported seeing him visit Creighton over the course of a few days prior to the incident.
