Happy Birthday: YouTube celebrates a decade of video

YouTube had its tenth birthday today. The first video uploaded, by the founders, was an amateurish video shot at the zoo in front of elephants.  A decade later, people all over the world watch million of hours of video, generating billions of views.

The most viewed video is Opa Gangnam Style, by Psy.

And the most popular YouTube channels draw larger audiences than many television networks.The most popular channel, 25-year-old Swedish gamer pewdiepie, has more than 36 million subscribers.

Youtube has 300 hours of video uploads per minute. The website wants more of those videos to be polished productions and are helping provide some production.

Thousands of the most popular YouTube creators earn six- figure incomes, through ad revenue and sponsorships. A handful make millions.
