CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va.  -- A Chesterfield mother said she was still terrified after a mysterious object smashed into her car windshield on I-95 early Saturday morning.  The woman said it happened near the Bells Rd. exit. Her husband and seven-year-old son were in the car too.

"A car is driving in the southbound lane and all of a sudden I see something white or yellow come toward me and something just slams my windshield," the woman, who asked not to be identified, said. "I'm having this powder in my eyes, my mouth and obviously it's glass."

She said she had no idea what exactly came at the windshield.

"I don't know if it was some sort of concrete metal, I'm not sure," she said, "I'm assuming that the car coming the opposite way threw something out."

The woman said she and her family were covered in glass and she waited to get herself cleaned up before calling Virginia State Police. However, she said she was frustrated after what police told her.

"Nothing that they can do for a broken windshield, our initial contact reason was to let them know to be on the lookout in case someone was doing this but they said there was no report that could be filed," she explained.

When asked about the incident, Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said they received a call around 5:30 a.m. when the woman was home. Sgt. Vick said the trooper did contact her and no injuries were reported.

While the shattered windshield remains a mystery, the woman said she wanted to get the word out so others were aware.
