CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The attorney for Jesse Matthew, Jr. is asking an Albemarle County judge to delay the start of his upcoming murder trial.

Matthew is charged with the abduction and murder of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham. That trial is scheduled to begin in late June, right after Matthew is tried in Fairfax County on charges that he raped and tried to kill a woman in 2005.

But Matthew’s lawyer, Jim Camblos, says he needs a DNA expert to help his defense and adds that there is not enough time between now and June 29 to get such an expert up to speed on the case.

Camblos says he's not sure how much extra time he will need.
