RICHMOND, Va. -- Mayor Dwight Jones described Richmond as "Resurgent" during his annual state of the city address Thursday night.

Speaking before hundreds of people inside the city's new Huguenot High School, the mayor touted several projects, including the upcoming World Road Cycling Championships, which will take place in Richmond in September this year.

He also spoke about Stone Brewing's decision to build a new brewery in Richmond.

“Next week workers will begin constructing…and we should be proud of that.

Jones also talked about bringing Rapid Bus Transit to the city.

Jones also said the city has the lowest crime rate he's seen since he moved here, and credited outgoing Police Chief Ray Tarasovic.

Jones added that he will name the city's next police chief early next week.
