LIVE UPDATES: Crashes snarl traffic in Central Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. — Numerous wrecks have been reported on area roadways as a wintry mix falls across Central Virginia.

It was wn early start to a busy night on Central Virginia’s roadway began with an overturned car on Interstate I-195 northbound.

Around midnight Wednesday morning, Virginia State Police and Richmond Fire responded to the northbound lanes because of a overturned Honda Civic near the overpass above Laburnum Avenue.

While it’s unclear if weather caused the accident, our photographer Tyler Conta  said as soon as he stepped out of his car to shoot the accident, it was very slick and difficult to walk on the roadway. State Police did close all the lanes for a while to clean up the wreckage. No word if anyone was hurt in this crash.

About an hour later, Henrico Police responded to several cars spun out and crashed on the Route 60 overpass above Interstate 295, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee pictured above.

These was not the only accident emergency crews were working on overnight.  Here are some of the crash incidents from VDOT’s 511 page:

At 1:39 a.m. – On I-295 at mile marker 28 in the County of Henrico, motorists can expect potential delays due to numerous accidents. The north right shoulder is closed.

At 1:44 a.m. – On I-95 at mile marker 67 in the County of Chesterfield, motorists can expect potential delays due to a vehicle accident. The south left lane, center lane, and right lane are closed.
