RICHMOND — A local barbecue restaurant is reaching out to Famous Dave’s employees after the chain announced it had shuttered its locations in Richmond.

In fact, the three Famous Dave’s locations on W. Broad Street, Midlothian Turnpike, and Brook Road had already closed on Monday.

Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue posted on their Facebook page Monday afternoon that they were “sorry to hear about these nearby folks out of work especially during the holiday season.”

“We always have room for good people who have a love for some barbecue. If you know people affected, please encourage them to fill out an application on our site or stop by our store.http://buzandneds.com/jobs/,” stated Buz and Ned’s Facebook post.

The social media posting stroke a chord with fans of the Facebook page.

“Classy. Thanks Buz and Ned’s! One more reason why we love you,” Rachel Baber Rea posted.

Janet Carlton Williams called Buz and Ned’s a class act! “That’s why we love you — well, that, and some fine BBQ,” she wrote.

Famous Dave’s broke the news of the closings in a press releaseon Monday.

The CEO of Famous Dave’s indicated that the closures are part of a strategic financial reevaluation “that will drive the greatest increase in company performance and long-term, per share, shareholder value.”

“Fiscal 2014 marked the beginning of a transition for Famous Dave’s, a process that we expect to continue into 2015,” said Ed Rensi, CEO of Famous Dave’s.”The current leadership team continues to evaluate the performance of our legacy company-owned portfolio as we drive toward a return to positive same store sales and improved unit and company-level profitability, while we actively pursue our re-franchising strategy.

For those craving Famous Dave’s barbecue, the location in Fredricksburg remains open, an employee confirmed over the phone.
