"We just wanted to do something to give back to the community," Woods, a two-year veteran of the Richmond Police Department said. "With the reaction we got this year, we'll probably do it again next year."

Woods and his partner handed out 175 pizzas Tuesday and Wednesday.

Woods said something surprising happened when they tried to give more than one pizza box to some people.

"They gave the extra box back so we could give it to someone else," Woods said. "Everyone was really excited, laughing, having a good time."
