Henrico man found not guilty of 2014 Ashland shooting

ASHLAND, Va. -- A 43-year-old Henrico man has been found not guilty by reason of self-defense on charges of aggravated malicious wounding and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Thomas Puffenbarger, of Henrico County, was arrested after allegedly shooting a man during a quarrel in Ashland on December 20, 2014.

Ashland police said officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Bruton Parrish Court in Ashland around 11 p.m. that night.

That's where they found a man suffering from two gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center.

"No other injuries were reported and the investigation indicated that this was an isolated incident that arose from an altercation between Puffenbarger and the victim," Watts wrote in a news release.
