RICHMOND, Va. — Former Virginia Tech football star Michael Vick said playing quarterback for the Washington Redskins would be a dream come true.

“That’s home for me. Don’t get me excited. Don’t get me excited,” the Newport News native said in a recent interview with Newsday. “Going back home, I mean, that’ll be a dream come true.”

Vick, whose contract with the New York Jets ends this season, said he spoke with current Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson about a reunion when Vick signed to play with the Jets and Jackson was playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. The two were teammates in Philadelphia.

“We talked about it once I signed,” Vick said. “I’m not saying he wanted to follow me, but he also knows what type of player I am and I know how to get him the ball.”

The Washington Redskins have an uncertain future at quarterback with Robert Griffin III, Colt McCoy and Kirk Cousins all starting for the team this season. The Washington Redskins are 3 -11 this season.

While Vick to the Washington Redskins remains a possibility, the quarterback said it was not something he would invest too much time worrying about, at least not now.

“I would hate to get my hopes up for something that wouldn’t happen,” Vick said. “I can’t even think about it right now.”
