NEW YORK — The United States Postal Service hopes to deliver many cards and packages this Christmas.

In an effort to remind you what exactly the postal service offers, it sent a mailer to all 130 million American homes and developed an app that can turn your neighborhood’s blue mailbox into an “Augmented Reality experience.”

Check it out in the video clip below.

The goal of the 15 animations that trigger off any USPS blue mailbox is to remind Americans how they can use the postal service app to:

  • Buy holiday stamps
  • Schedule free package pickup
  • Order free holiday boxes
  • Track a package
  • Find a post office

The U.S. Postal Service worked with McCann Erickson, MRM//McCann, UM, Weber Shandwick and AKQA on this USPS holiday campaign.

In addition to the mailer and app, the USPS will launch a new television spot on Thanksgiving the features Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe rallying “troops of postal carries,” reported the Wall Street Journal.
