UPDATE: Dominion Virginia Power expected to have all power restored to customers by 1 p.m. VDOT said the road would remain closed until at least noon.
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police and power crews spent hours cleaning up the mess left by a three-car accident in western Henrico. The crash, which happened at 1:50 a.m., knocked out power to about 1,500 Dominion Virginia Power customers near the area of Staples Mill Road and Glenside Drive.
Staples Mill Road, between Townhouse Rd. and Parham Rd., remained closed in both directions as of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The accident happened when a station wagon headed west on Staples Mill Road ran off the road and hit a power pole. That crash caused power lines to fall onto the road. Two other vehicles, a sedan and an SUV, collided head-on when each tried to avoid the debris.
No one was seriously injured in the crash. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
This is a developing story.
