CONWAY, Penn. — Brittany Ruck a mother of three is facing child abuse charges after authorities say she pulled her six-year-old daughter’s hair so hard that her scalp separated from her skull, according to WPXI.
Officers were alerted when officials reported they were treating Ruck’s daughter. The report described the injury as traction, a separation of the victim’s scalp from her skull, causing the space between to be filled with blood.
“The doctors told us there was a separation of the victim from her skull,” Conway police Officer Mike Priolo said.
Doctors who treated the girl told police her injuries were most consistent with violent hair pulling, as well as an impact to her left ear, according to WPXI.
Ruck, admitted that she pulled her daughter’s hair because she could not count to 12.
“The little girl told us she could only count to 10 because she had 10 fingers, but she couldn’t count any higher. That’s when the mother grabbed her by her hair,” Priolo said.
Ruck’s daughter told police that on a separate occasion, her mother pulled her across the floor into a corner by a hair.
“It’s just sad because she didn’t do anything wrong and she had to bear the brunt of pain,” Priolo said.
