HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — A child was ejected from a Ford Mustang after it overturned several times on Interstate 295, near mile marker 38, in Hanover Saturday. The child who was ejected, two other children and the Ford Mustang driver were all taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Virginia State Police spokesman Sergeant Stephan Vick said.

“A 2007 Ford Mustang was traveling north when the driver swerved to miss an item in the road, as the driver swerved left, he then overcorrected right and ran off the road to the right overturning several times,” Vick wrote in an email. “The driver, 52-year-old Kenneth Sharpe, of Mechanicsville, was charged with making an unsafe lane change, he was wearing a seat belt.”

The accident happened at about 7:08 p.m. Saturday. All lanes of I-295 were reopened at about 8:27 p.m.
