RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond police responded to Martin Luther King Middle School at Mosby and O Streets where gunshots damaged the school Friday evening.

CBS 6 reporter Jerrita Patterson was interviewing a man in Richmond's Mosby Court when gunfire erupted, temporarily interrupting the interview and prompting screams from neighbors.

"That's crazy, bro," the man said. "That's crazy... I've got to make sure my cousin's alright."

The man jumped up to look outside as more shots are heard ringing out through the neighborhood.

When asked by our CBS 6 Assistant Chief Photographer Jesse Burkett if he should call police, the man told him that they would arrive shortly. In fact, he noted police would "take a real little while" to arrive.

The man later joked,  "I don't know how you're going to edit that one....  You can't say you weren't on the scene for that one."

Patterson said she was able to see at least two gunshots through windows at the school.

No one was injured.
