RICHMOND, Va. -- The Flying Squirrels are hoping their Labor Day weekend sweep of the Binghamton Mets was a preview of things to come as the Eastern League Championship Series begins Tuesday night.

The crowd at Friday's Squirrels game was the largest single-game crowd in the AA playoffs this year, the team said. The Squirrels two-game average is higher than any other club's top game, the team added.

"We outdrew six of the eight AAA teams in the first round," a team spokesman said. "Essentially, we had the best AA postseason environment in round one."
