Springfield, OR (KPTV) -- There is much debate about which Springfield is the home of the Simpson family, but Springfield, OR moved to settle the debate with the unveiling of a new mural on the side of a downtown building Monday.

Hundreds turned out for the dedication ceremony to get some free donuts and to snag an autograph from Yeardly Smith, the voice of Lisa Simpson.

Simpsons creator Matt Groening gave his blessings for the mural to celebrate the show's 25 years on the FOX network.

Groening is from Portland, and while the hit cartoon is based in a fictional town, many people associate it with the city in Oregon because of Groening's background. Groening said he chose to call the Simpsons' hometown Springfield because it's a very common name.
