Michael Brown

SELMA, Ala. – An Alabama elementary school teacher is on leave after parents complained about one of her classroom assignments.

According to the New York Daily News, she had her sixth-grade students recreate the racially charged shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

Parents said white students played the city’s police, and African-American students portrayed Michael Brown.

They say the children were told to research everything they could about the shooting online, then re-enact it using a paper gun and bullets.

“They are teaching these children to hate one another when we’re supposed to be teaching them to love one another,” mother Jessica Baughn posted on the Sound Off Selma website.

The school said an internal investigation is underway and that they will not comment until it is complete.

We are becoming a nation of idiots. What teacher would think this is a good idea? Thank God I don’t have children in the school system….

  • Ron Melancon

Another nutty school teacher deciding on her own to brain wash our children. Can we let the facts be told? Before we pass judgement we need to get the real facts and then address this. Period.

Do you want more facts about what happened in Ferguson or what happened in the classroom? The students reenacted a scene in which a man died, a cop was beaten and the city exploded into chaos. Talking about what happened in Ferguson is one thing, but having the students reenact that act goes beyond sensibility. This teacher needs some reeducation.

the next time a black kills a white person all whites should riot, loot and burn. They don’t have a white leader or attorney general to send to our town but hey least we get some new shoes, right?

She should be fired. I wouldn’t trust her to walk my dog. No wonder American kids are behind the educational curve when compared to their European counterparts. Just this morning, another article was on the news about removing Dr. Martin Luther King, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington from course curriculums.

Actually the true story is a class project was to “re-enact a current event” and a student chose this event. If the teacher said no yall would be complaining of censorship, teacher lets them do it and yall still complain. The only idiots I see are the people in these comments.
