Help Liberians in Virginia take action against Ebola

RICHMOND, Va. -- Virginia In Action For Liberia Against Ebola (VALAE), is a campaign organized by Diaspora Liberians and friends in Virginia to provide support and resources needed to control the spread of the Ebola virus in Liberia. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Ebola virus in West Africa to be "an international public health emergency that requires an extraordinary response to stop its spread."

VALAE with its partners The Virginia Baptist Mission Board and First Baptist is still accepting donations from the public. Donations can be dropped off at the Baptist Mission Board, 2828 Emerywood Parkway in Henrico. Organizers ask that you call first before dropping items off because no one is manning the truck.  Items needed include: sanitary items and medical supplies like: bar soap, fluid resistant gowns,  disposable boot & show covers, polycarbonate face shields, hospital masks, disposable aprons with sleeves & hair nets, splash protection safety goggles, surgical, examination, obstetrics Gynecology, latex & vinyl gloves (all sizes), disinfectants -Clorox bleach & bleach spray, Lysol spray, antibacterial hand sanitizer, disposable sanitizing wipes, empty bottles sprayers, alcohol & alcohol  wipes.

There are several other ways to make Financial donations through the Virginia Baptist Mission Board; a secured electronic donation to vbmb.org/financial-resources/services (choose "Ebola Outbreak" in drop menu). By checks payable to Virginia Baptist Mission Board, memo line "Ebola Virus - Liberia", mail to Virginia Baptist Mission Board, Attn: Dean Miller, 2828 Emerywood Parkway, Henrico, Va. 23294 and credit cards donations are accepted by calling 804-915-5000 ask for Jeannette Hildebrand.
