VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Some of the swim advisory issued at Virginia Beach was lifted Thursday morning. Swimmers are now allowed back into the water between 37th Street and 70th Street along the oceanfront.
The advisory remained in effect between 22nd Street and 37th Street.
Some Virginia Beach vacationers looking to jump into the Atlantic Ocean were not able to on Wednesday when bacteria levels in the water between 22nd Street to 70th Street exceeded State Water Quality Standards.
That prompted the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health to issue a swimming and wading advisory in that area. It is the largest advisory issued in recent history.
