Gas Leak

RICHMOND, Va. — Streets have reopened after a gas leak closed several streets near Virginia Commonwealth’s main campus Tuesday morning.

The university said that the leak happened around 10 a.m. near the Altria Theater and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Laurel Street.

“Gas Leak in the area of Floyd and Laurel St. Use alternate routes. Avoid area until further notice,” the university posted on the VCU Alert page.

A CBS 6 crew on the scene said the leak has closed Laurel from Franklin to at least Cary.

The leak was fixed and roads reopened around 10:40 a.m.
