WICHITA, KS– The past few months have been pretty rough for a black Labrador named Lady, but her fortune is finally improving.

According to KCTV, Lady’s family dumped her 30 miles from home to get rid of her.

Miraculously, the dog made the long trek all the way back home only to be refused by her owners again!

A shelter worker posted about the dog on Facebook, begging for someone to adopt the animal. “The senior lab walked nearly 30 miles to come home,” Powell wrote on Facebook. “Is there anyone out there who can give this girl a home? She may not have many years left. She is spayed, house broken, leash trained, mellow, having problems walking.”

The Facebook post was shared nearly 7,000 times across Facebook. It went viral after Examiner.com picked up the story Wednesday.

Lady caught the attention of Wrigley Gum heiress Helen Rich Rosburg.

KCTV reports that Rosburg flew a private jet to Kansas on Thursday to whisk Lady to her Florida sanctuary for neglected animals.

Rosburg has vowed to give Lady a pampered life, and she will join the cats and dogs already inside Rosburg’s home. She will have plenty of room to play outside.

Items like this make me want to choke to death that dog’s former “owners.” Hopefully the animal population will be done a huge favor if these “people” aren’t allowed to ever adopt any pet again.

These people could not find a shelter or a friend to take the dog in the first time they tried to get rid of it? What kind of heartless basturd dumps a dog 30 miles away and then rejects the love and loyalty the dog shows by coming back? What kind of message does that send to their kids?

I hope that beautiful “Lady” will live happily ever after!!! The owner that did that should be exposed and charged with animal cruelty. I hope the owners neighbors know what he/she/it did and show shame on him/her !!! There is no room for forgiveness in this behavior !

We have a little lady with us too. Lady Bug, a brown mixed bread dog was abandoned at our office in Birmingham Alabama over a year ago with a broken leg and skin issues. Her leg was fixed and she did physical therapy with us. We have not been able to find her a loving home and all the rescue groups in the area are full. We are looking for her a home or a foster home with a rescue group where she can live the life a dog should.
