TRIADELPHIA, W.Va. — A couple in West Virginia could face charges after taking their sex games out of their bedroom and onto  a busy highway.

The couple was spotted at a busy four-way intersection on U.S. 40 around 9:30 Tuesday morning.

A passing motorist took a photo showing a naked man with his ankles bound down on all fours. There was a hood over his head and he was being walked on a leash by a woman wearing a purple nightgown, the driver said.

A woman who lives nearby was taken aback by what she  witnesses along the busy road.

“I was like ‘Oh my God! He’s naked! And she’s walking a human being,’” Cindy Hunter said.

“That was the weirdest day yet…. It was the weirdest day ever,” Lt. Nelson Croft with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office laughed.

Croft said officers started knocking on doors to try to track down the couple.  Tips led officers to an apartment building on Roney’s Point Road.

“The female at first denied any involvement,” Croft said. “We had a witness positively identify her, and then she admitted to it, as did the male.”

The pair were later identified as 53-year-old Barbara Jean “B.J.” Geardello and her 56-year-old boyfriend, Robert Deyell.

Deyell told deputies he was a willing participant and was not seriously injured.

Many speculated about what were pair were up to. Some even wondered if they were getting in the mood for the movie version of that best selling novel, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which will be released next year.

Then again, maybe they were auditioning for a spot on the Discovery Channel’s over-exposed reality series, “Naked and Afraid,” or maybe the new reality show "Dating Naked."

But the couple said it was all part of an erotic game.

“They said it was consensual sex -- a consensual sex game -- and they were offended that people were stopping and calling them freaks,” Croft said.
