VHSL moves 5A and 6A state tournaments

RICHMOND (WTVR) – After looking at Friday’s forecast for Northern Virginia, the Virginia High School league decided to move the state 5A and 6A tournament schedules back one day.

Semifinals for teams in divisions 5A and 6A will now be held on Saturday with the championship games being moved to Sunday.

There are 8 Richmond area teams affected by the switch. Their new schedules are:


6A girls – Cosby vs. Centreville 11am Sat. at Robinson HS, Fairfax

5A boys – Mills Godwin vs. Albemarle 12pm Sat. at Lake Braddock HS, Burke

5A girls – Deep Run vs. Stone Bridge 5pm Sat. at Lake Braddock HS, Burke


6A – Cosby vs. Chantilly 7pm Sat. at Robinson HS, Fairfax

5A – Douglas Freeman vs. Freedom 3pm Sat. at Lake Braddock HS, Burke


6A – Cosby vs. Lake Braddock 4pm Sat. at Robinson HS Fairfax

5A – Patrick-Henry vs. Great Bridge 12pm Sat. at Lake Braddock HS, Burke

5A – Prince George vs. Briar Woods 4pm Sat. Lake Braddock HS, Burke

Other divisions have remained unchanged. Hanover baseball and Midlothian boys and girls soccer are all still playing Friday in Lynchburg under their original schedules
