Weekend Events: Greek Festival, BBQ, Butterflies and 50 Cent in concert!
3-H Fest, Hogs, Hops and Horticulture in Petersburg, it’s BBQ, Baseball & Beverages at the Petersburg Sports Complex, 100 Ballpark Road, Saturday May 31st, 12 pm – 6pm. The first of its kind event features BBQ Masters from the Tri-Cities region competing for a chance to be crowned Tri-Cities BBQ Champ. Kozack Beverages among others will provide ale, while the new Baseball season kicks off, festival tickets holders are admitted free to the Petersburg Generals 7pm game. There will also be a bike ride starting at 11am from the Colonial Heights Harley Davidson Advance to the Sports Complex, tickets $15, $20 at gate, kids 12 and under are free. The 39th annual Richmond Greek Festival runs through Sunday June 1st at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Malvern Avenue. In addition to delicious Greek foods and pastries and Greek Wines the festival features Cathedral tours through out the weekend, dancers, musicians and arts and crafts. Festival hours are Thursday until 9:30, Friday & Saturday, 11am – 10pm and Sunday 12pm – 7pm. The Paredes Foundation invites you to their Festival Day and Lakeside Adventure Walk, where hundreds of butterflies will release into the skies at Innsbrook, Saturday, May 31st, starting at 11am and ending at 2pm at The Paredes Foundation Offices, 4480 Cox Road Glen Allen. You’re encouraged to purchase a butterfly “in honor of” or “in memory of” a loved one to release yourself at the event. Ten non-profits all committed to serving the community will host family activities from bean bag toss, to hula hoop to butterfly contests. Others will walk around the beautiful lake at 4480 Cox Road to raise funds to provide free mammograms to undeserved women in Richmond.
