Man’s body found behind Harley-Davidson in Hanover

UPDATE: On Friday police identified the body as Mark Burns, age 55, of West Fillmore Street in Petersburg.

Investigators continue to work closely with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office (OCME) to determine the official cause and manner of death.

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – An investigation is underway after a man’s body was discovered Wednesday morning behind the Harley-Davidson dealership in Hanover County.

Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 10441 Washington Highway just before 8:30 a.m. after the body of a white male was found on the ground behind the business.

Officers said the man, who appeared to be in his mid to late 50s, was deceased.

The victim's body has been taken to Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and to determine a cause of death.

Deputies said their investigation is in the beginning stages.
