RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–A Richmond Public School teacher was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and drunkenness over the weekend.

Police said 23-year-old Diamond Mays, a third grade teacher at Broad Rock Elementary school, was arrested around 9 p.m. Saturday.

The arrest took place in the 1400 block of East Cary Street near Sine Irish pub. There were multiple St. Patrick’s holiday celebrations in the area.

A Richmond Public Schools spokesperson said the district is aware of the charges and will follow the case until there is a final disposition to appropriate actions.

They said they won’t comment further, because the situation is a personnel issue.
